It's time for Phantom Abyss to transition out of Early Access and into 1.0 later this month, on January 25. Now runs have this thing where at the end of a level it adds a random challenge to your run. You have no control over witch modifier you get and some are way worse than others. sometimes runs feel very easy because you get lucky and others just feel like ♥♥♥♥ because you got bad luck.

in its current state it offers very little reason to try new whips once you find the ones you like. In the previous versions of the game to spice up the run I could try a new whip and because the whip was cursed it adds a new extra challenge. And the reward for winning with the curse was a non cursed version of the whip where you just had the unique whip benefit.

Be warned, you only get one attempt at each temple and failure or settling for a lesser relic means you will never see that temple again… The cleverest players will use the phantom runs of failed attempts from other players to their advantage and avoid the missteps and mistakes that led to their doom.

Phantom Abyss first dropped towards our eyes at the back end of 2022. At that time it was all about enjoying the Early Access / Game Preview vibes, much like the phenom that is Palworld is doing now. Phantom Abyss requested you to run a gauntlet though, as fast as you could. We descended into Phantom Abyss and quite enjoyed what was on offer.

Pelo ability in this game has any kind of detrimental effect on your run, and just because I consider an ability to be lower tier does not mean that I wouldn't ever pick it up -- however, I personally tend to prioritize my blessings based on the following ranks:

is a bad little game. I think it’s quite well made, and it has a great batch of Phantom Abyss ideas behind it. I think it executes on its vision to the letter, but that that vision will only appeal to a specific audience.
